High-demand career opportunities in 2023

Having a highly sought-after job pays off in a shaky economy.

Even though the Federal Reserve’s interest rate increases have so far prevented widespread unemployment from driving up inflation, a recession is still possible.

Data on the most in-demand jobs in terms of employment numbers and anticipated growth rates are published by the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS). In order to identify the most in-demand jobs in 2023 for long-term job security — even in a challenging economy — we looked at employment and job opening trends from the Bureau of Labour Statistics.

The Most Demanding Jobs:

BLS’s Occupation Finder contains a database of more than 800 positions. To determine the anticipated growth rate and total number of new jobs in each occupation between 2022 and 2032, we looked to its Employment Projections database.

Next, we performed a filter to remove jobs that are expected to grow at a rate that is significantly faster than average (defined as 10.5% or above) and to add at least 50,000 new jobs between 2022 and 2032. 18 positions that are in great demand were on our final list.

The highest-paying positions in finance, technology, and health care are mixed with lower-paying service positions to make up the most in-demand occupations, which are those with the highest employment in 2022 and the highest growth potential by 2032:

Managers of computers and information systems: $164,070
$139,790 in financial managers
$127,260 for software developers

In 2022, the median annual salary in the United States was $56,929, as per data from the Census Bureau.
