The much awaited release date of Dua Lipa’s new single, “Houdini,” has been revealed.
On Wednesday, November 1st, Lipa revealed the details of her upcoming single on Instagram. The movie “Houdini” will debut on November 9 at 11 p.m. GMT.
The “Don’t Start Now” singer had unusually cleared her Instagram feed in the weeks before her announcement, though she did occasionally post lone images and teases that were quickly removed.
One of them paid homage to the well-known Hungarian-American illusionist Harry Houdini by showing a close-up of a gold key in her mouth.
Her official X/Twitter account, meanwhile, stayed unaltered, and all of her previous tweets—including the one from Tuesday, October 31, which featured a teaser video for her upcoming song—were still visible.
With a link to pre-order her single “Houdini,” Lipa wrote, “Sign up.”
This is the Grammy-winning artist’s first new solo release since her 2020 album Future Nostalgia.
But since then, she’s released joint singles with rapper Young Thug, 2022’s “Potion,” and her smash feature “Dance the Night Away,” which was written for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film.
Last year, Lipa informed Elton John during an update on her At Your Service podcast that she was halfway through recording her third album. “it’s taken a complete turn as I’ve carried on working, and I really feel now that it’s starting to sound cohesive,” she subsequently stated to Variety in November 2022.
“So I’m going to keep writing in the early months of the new year and see where that takes me. The album is different – it’s still pop but it’s different sonically, and there’s more of a lyrical theme,” she added. “If I told you the title, everything would make sense – but I think we’ll just have to wait.”
The New York Times Magazine, where the London-born singer-songwriter was featured as the cover star in August, anticipates the release of her third album sometime in 2024.
